Telluride Resort is a high-class public ski resort situated at Mountain Village in Colorado. The Telluride Resort was put up by Joseph Zoline from scratch, with the hopes of building a famed "world-class" ski resort. The resort is located in a remote area of the Colorado Mountains, which, according to Zoline, makes the Telluride Resort special and extraordinary.
In 1999, Joe Morita purchased the Telluride Ski Resort; then it was bought by a private company in 2003.
During the summer, Telluride Resort is popular for its top-notch festivals. Aside from its world-class festivities, Telluride Resort brags of its various outdoor adventure rides and relaxing spas located at the San Juans. It also offers sports and extreme activities such as golf, hiking, sky gliding, fishing, spa treatments, and bungee jumping.
Colorado's mountain village and terrain features face the town of Telluride and go as far as the other side of the terrain. The Telluride Resort houses 120 runs and more than 2000 acres of skiable landscape. Almost 23% of Telluride's runs are considered as Beginner runs; Intermediate covers 36% of its runs and Advanced Telluride runs cover 41%.
The mountains of Telluride collect an average of 309 inches of snow every winter. All of its mountain lifts would usually close at 4 pm, while upper mountain areas would close earlier to ensure the safety of skiers.
The Telluride Resort has significantly enlarged its skiing area during the past years. This has been a result of the continuous patronage of its clients and customers, both locally and internationally. Some of the additional skiing areas are: the Prospect Bowl, which opened in 2002 and has doubled the area of skiable terrains; Black Iron Bowl, which was inaugurated during the Skiing Competition in 2007-2008; and the Revelation Bowl, which opened a couple of years ago.
